The depth of depravity....

Last night I fell to the lowest level ever. Needing some form of external entertainment I went over to Blockbuster, who's doors I have not darkened in so long they'd expelled me from the computer system. I had no idea what I was there for, so after wandering among the shelves forever, I wound up with "Office Space" and "Larry the Cable Guy".
I am so ashamed.
I could feel my brain cells going extinct while I was watching "Larry". I've spent the day reading the dictionary just to stop the damage. It will probably take an entire set of encyclopedias to rebuild my neural network. (I am pinning all the blame for my decline on my evil boss who planted the suggestion in my mind.)

$100 Gas Rebates...
The next great idea, brought to you by politicians. Sure to grab lots of attention, but is it that good of an idea? I'd be happy to receive a $100.00 check in the mail, for me that would equate to almost 10 weeks of normal driving or one road trip, but I'm not convinced the government handout is a good plan.
My first concern is "where is the money coming from?" We all know the federal government gets its money from one place, taxpayers, so which set of taxpayers is going to fund this program? Perhaps it will be funded by taking away tax breaks from the oil companies. Who is going to pay for those higher taxes? Consumers!!!!! (Me, and you) The oil companies will turn right around and pass those higher tax costs onto us, because they're sure not going to take a hit in their profit margin, no business in it's right mind would.
Perhaps consumers could demand more accountability from the oil companies, make them justify the price at the pump, although how that would be accomplished, I have no idea. Any suggestions?

No Free Lunch

After my marathon 15 hour overtime shift last Friday, I told my boss that he owed me breakfast, and I wanted french toast and sausage. I know there's no such thing as a free lunch, but yesterday he handed me a gift card for IHOP!

Quote of the Week...
"That's one tough broad." -- said about me by a coworker during a marathon 15 hour over-time shift which ended at 5:00 this morning.

Food Psychology
So, I'm finally getting around to baking the turtle brownies that have been patiently waiting for me all week, and as I'm doing this, it occurs to me that the song "Burn" by JoDee Messina may not be the best musical accompaniment for my activity.
"... I want you to burn, burn for me baby, like a candle in my night, burn, burn for me, burn for me."
