Google Docs Rocks!
So what do you do when you need to write an impressive and professional looking letter but your word processing capabilities are limited wordpad and notepad?
A month after vacating my apartment I discovered today the money I paid toward last month rent when I moved in may not have been transferred to the new owner when the building was sold nearly four years ago, and my former landlord thinks it's my job to track down the previous owner to get part of that money back. Since I am not one to get stuck doing someone else's job I called his property manager back and told her I found his proposal entirely unacceptable, and explained why I thought he should agree with me. Then I tore my house apart and berated myself for not being more organized with potentially important documents until I located both the lease agreement and receipt which back my position.
Now I'm ready to go to the mattresses, but have very limited word processing abiliti........
wait!
what's that?
It's a bird!
No, it's a plane!
NO!!! It's Google docs and spreadsheets!!!!!!!
Not only can I create an impressive and subtly intimidating letter, I can ask any of my favorite proof readers to pull it up on their computer and tell me how great they think I am, correct my grammer, or offer their own landlord fighting war stories to encourage me. I can also print it from any computer in the free world, without needing to dig a floppy disk out of the piles of boxes still waiting for my undivided attention, since I have been not only disorganized but also too lazy to get a new ink cartridge for my printer.
And thanks to my devilishly intelligent computer geek brother who spent two hours on the phone with me tonight getting my wireless up and running, I can do it all while lounging on the couch in my pajamas.
