The word of the day is...

... Ambiguous.

from dictionary.com
am·big·u·ous [am-big-yoo-uhs]
1. open to or having several possible meanings or interpretations; equivocal
2. of doubtful or uncertain nature; difficult to comprehend, distinguish, or classify
3. lacking clearness or definiteness; obscure; indistinct

As in, a new residential development advertised as "A single family community". What is that? A development for singles? A development for single parent families? A reference to a zoning classification, in spite of it's apparent multi-family structure? At first glance it would seem the developer put no thought into wording the sign, but I'm beginning to believe perhaps the phrase was overthought.
