I'm not sure I'll be able to sleep until I get some answers.....
I find the news from the Vatican which I mentioned in my previous post bothers me more than I expected. What confuses me most is the logistics of updating this list. Are these new mortal sins retroactive? Think about it, lets say a man died fifteen years ago, having been diligent in attending confession and seeking absolution of his sins during his life, he went to heaven when he died. But while he was alive he owned a company which belched huge amounts of sooty black smoke from multiple smokestacks 24 hours a day seven days a week, and denied his workers a living wage while reaping huge profits. Would this man be guilty of the mortal sins of pollution and economic injustice, and find himself transfered to hell? Could he fall asleep on cloud nine and wake up to the smell of fire and brimstone? This is all very complicated, even for me.
